The fifth Miami Township Citizens' Police Academy began September
17th and ran through November 26th. Funding was made possible
through the Tri-State Regional Community Policing Institute. The
Academy utilized Miami Township police personnel, Sheriff A.J.
Rodenberg, Township Trustees Mr. Joe Uecker and Mr. Ed Humphrey
along with the Miami Township Fire & EMS department and the Township
Clerk Mr. Eric Ferry.
Police Chief, R. Steven Bailey began week one with a complete review
of the community oriented policing concept and traced its roots from
ancient times to the modern day policing practices. A detailed
description of department organization and structure contributed to
a energetic beginning for the academy.
