RESOLUTION 2004 - 23

The Board of Trustees of Miami Township, Clermont County, Ohio met in special session at the Miami Township Civic Building on July 20, 2004 with the following members present: Edwin H. Humphrey, Joseph W. Uecker and Mary Makley Wolff.

MR. UECKER made a motion to adopt the following Resolution:

AUTHORIZING THE MIAMI TOWNSHIP POLICE DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR A GRANT THROUGH THE DARE GRANTS PROGRAM AND AUTHORIZING THE TOWNSHIP ADMINISTRATOR TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE, DISPENSING WITH THE SECOND READING

WHEREAS, the Miami Township Board of Trustees are strong supporters of the DARE program and have previously authorized the implementation of the DARE program for schools within Miami Township; and

WHEREAS, the Miami Township Police Department has two officers certified to teach DARE and has assigned one officer on a full-time basis and one officer on a part-time basis to teach DARE; and

WHEREAS, the Miami Township Police Department currently conducts DARE programs in the Milford Exempted Village School District and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School; and

WHEREAS, the Miami Township Police Department would like to seek funding through the DARE Grants Program to help defray the salaries of the officer(s) assigned to the DARE program.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of Miami Township, Clermont County, Ohio by authority of Chapter 504 of the Ohio Revised Code, as follows:

SECTION 1: That the Board authorizes the Miami Township Police Department to apply for a grant through the DARE Grants Program.

SECTION 2: That the Board authorizes the Township Administrator to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Attorney General's Office to implement the DARE grant program.

SECTION 3: That this Board of Trustees hereby finds and determines that all formal actions relative to the passage of this Resolution were taken in an open meeting of this Board, and that all deliberations of this Board and of its Committees, if any, which resulted in formal action, were taken in meetings open to the public, in full compliance with applicable legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.

SECTION 4: This Resolution shall take effect at the earliest period allowed by law.

Effective: August 19, 2004

MRS. WOLFF seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution. On the roll call being called the vote resulted as follows:
