

MIAMI TOWNSHIP -- Miami Township Police Officers Melissa Wahlert,
Todd Peters and Sergeant Al Fatute all graduated on March 23 from the
prestigious Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of
Police Staff and Command in Evanston, IL.
The school is considered to be one of the most successful police training schools for middle to upper level law enforcement managers in the United States. The intensive 10-week program is designed to prepare experienced first and second level law enforcement supervisors for senior positions.
Officer Wahlert has worked for the Miami Township Police Department since 2002. She holds an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, and will receive a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice in June 2006. She works in the Patrol Division and will assume duties as a Community Policing Officer.
Officer Peters has been an officer with the department since 1999. Prior to that he was a Deputy Sheriff for the Clinton County Sheriff's Department. He is assigned to the Patrol Division, and has previously served as a D.A.R.E. Officer for several elementary school buildings in Miami Township. He holds an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
Sergeant Fatute has been with the Miami Township Police Department since 1993. Prior to that he was employed by the Williamsburg Police Department. He is assigned as a Patrol Division Supervisor. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.
